We had a chat with Monika Kočar, who is now part of the marketing team and helps shape the story of the LELOSI brand. She describes herself in three words: loyal, honest and hardworking - qualities that have accompanied her throughout her entire career. She holds a degree in forestry engineering, but her path led her into a completely different environment, where she has been growing alongside the company for years. Her story is a great example of how, with perseverance, curiosity and a willingness to learn, you can gradually progress from operational tasks to more strategic and creative roles.
Every career path starts somewhere – yours began in the packing and warehouse department. What are your memories of your first days with us, and what motivated you the most at that time?
I have very fond memories of my first days at LELOSI. Back then, there were only two of us students packing orders in a shared space with the office, and you could count all the leggings on your fingers. 😊 We all felt like we were building something new together. What motivated me most was being part of a story that was growing. As the company grew, so did we – we got a larger packing area, bigger warehouses and more and more orders. All of this brought new challenges, but also plenty of opportunities to learn. It was very exciting to watch the company develop and to see how I could contribute to that growth.
Throughout your journey, you worked in several different departments, from returns and support to working in the shop in Ljubljana. How did these experiences shape you and what did they give you?
Each department I worked in gave me a different perspective on how the company operates. Working in returns and customer support taught me clear communication and how to understand our customers. That was where I first truly began to understand who our customer is, what they expect from us, and how important it is to listen to them. Working in the shop in Ljubljana gave me additional confidence in communication and strengthened my organisational skills. I learned how important teamwork is and how much it matters that colleagues support one another. These experiences shaped me both professionally and personally, and above all, they gave me a broader understanding of the entire process – from the product to the end customer.
At the company, we believe that potential can also be developed within the team. How did it come about that you started getting involved in purchasing, development and logistics?
I began to feel the desire to take on more demanding tasks. I expressed this openly and was fortunate that my effort and willingness to work were recognised. I was allowed to join the purchasing, development and logistics department, which was a big step forward for me. I saw this transition as a challenge, but also as a sign of great trust. I learned to understand the processes behind the scenes – from product planning to supply and distribution. This knowledge gave me a broader perspective on how the company operates and still helps me today when making decisions.
Your path shows a great deal of adaptability and willingness to help wherever needed. What drove you to keep taking on new challenges?
I have always been driven by curiosity and a desire to learn. I enjoy trying new things and seeing how I can contribute to a shared goal. I see new challenges as opportunities for growth rather than obstacles. I am particularly motivated by solving problems and improving processes. When you see progress and the real impact of your work, it gives you extra energy and motivation to move forward.
Through your work in support, in the shop, and at trade fairs where you were in direct contact with customers, you gained valuable insight into their wishes and needs. How does this help you today in your role?
Direct contact with customers gave me very valuable insight into their expectations and habits. I learned to listen and understand what truly matters to them – from product quality to service speed and clear communication. Today, this knowledge helps me in my daily work, as I can make decisions with the end user in mind. When you understand the customer, you can anticipate potential challenges more easily and act in time. This is one of the greatest advantages I have gained over the years.
You gradually moved from operational roles into more strategic and creative areas, and recently joined the marketing team. How do you experience this transition?
The move into marketing genuinely excites me, as it brings new challenges, opportunities to learn and a fresh perspective on how the company operates. Each new department means new processes, new people and new knowledge, which motivates me greatly. At the same time, I can bring added value through my previous experience. Having worked in different departments, I better understand how processes are connected and how we can collaborate even more effectively.
Every new role brings new knowledge, but also a new level of confidence. What have you learned the most over the years, both about yourself and your work?
Over the years, I have learned that we grow the most when we step out of our comfort zone. I’ve realised that I am persistent, organised and that I enjoy taking responsibility. At work, I’ve learned how important good communication, clear organisation and timely information sharing are. It’s important to me that things are well organised and that everyone knows their role. When processes run smoothly, work becomes easier and more efficient for everyone.
A good working environment is often created by people. What do you like most about our team and culture?
What I appreciate most is that, despite different tasks and responsibilities, we know how to come together when it matters. Each department faces different challenges, but we always find a way to solve them as a team. I also really value the relaxed atmosphere. We know how to have a laugh and create a pleasant working environment, while still making sure the work gets done as it should. This balance of strong relationships and professionalism is, in my opinion, essential.
Your inspiring career story reflects a lot of perseverance and openness to learning. What motivates you the most and what drives you forward?
What motivates me the most is progress and successfully overcoming challenges. I enjoy dynamic work, a full schedule and clearly defined goals. I feel a sense of satisfaction when I can tick something off my to-do list and know it has been completed successfully. I also believe that knowledge is something no one can take away from you. A strong desire for personal and professional development drives me forward every day.
Many people look for an environment where they can grow and develop. What would you say to someone considering joining our team?
LELOSI truly offers plenty of opportunities for personal and professional growth. If you are willing to show initiative, learn and take responsibility, many opportunities will open up for you here. My journey is proof that effort and persistence are recognised. I started in the packing department, and today I have the opportunity to work across different areas and continue developing. So, to anyone thinking about joining our team, I would say: “Be bold – the opportunities are here. You just have to seize them.”
